Brother Innov-is VQ2
It's early days but I'm loving my new sewing machine so far! It sews so beautifully that my seam matching has improved tremendously. I've purchased it for the quilting aspect and am unlikely to use the hundreds of different stitch types, but I'm intrigued to try my hand at designing my own custom stitch, maybe as a way of "signing" my quilts. I've already been asked to supply numerous back-to-school name labels (which wasn't what I intended doing!!). I also like the speed control slider in that it's not just three speeds but you can vary between the marked speeds. There are a couple of things I would improve upon for my personal use. One would be the angle of the knee lifter; it's a little far away from my sitting position to operate comfortably. I shall probably tape a bit of polystyrene block onto it to bring it closer. And I find the foot controller a bit difficult to use! Most of the time I'm using the stop/start button, but for more fiddly things I plug in the foot pedal. The angle of use seems a bit strange from other machines I've had - you have to put your whole foot on it rather than just the ball of your foot. This is something I'll get used to of course. As I said, it's early days, but I'm loving it!
