Horizontal red line matches the needle drop so you can line up at the start of each row.

Small red mark denotes the center of the design for lining up with the marking for the first row. Clearly to keep it straight.

Designed by a quilter for quilters as an aid to obtain consistent 1/4" seam allowance.

Edges are 1/4" from the center needle position, which gives you an exact 1/4" seam allowance.

Notched 1/4" in front of and behind needle center as a reference for starting, stopping and pivoting.
